Elbert Ortiz is an associate attorney at Nunis & Associates, with a practice that focuses on civil litigation in a variety of areas including construction litigation, consumer protection, general liability, and commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes.
Elbert is originally from Carrizo Springs, Texas. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Elbert coached volleyball at all levels, highlighted by leading the University of Texas Women’s Club team to two N.I.R.S.A national titles and recognition as N.I.R.S.A team of the decade (2001-2010).
Elbert obtained his JD from the University of Houston Law Center where he served as Executive Director of UHLC’s Moot Court team and competed nationally representing the Law Center. As a third-year student, Elbert served as a tutor to first year students and worked in the UHLC Writing Center, where he assisted other law students with their legal writing. For his efforts, Elbert was recognized with induction into the Order of Legal Scribes and Order of Barristers, and the Law Center presented him with a “Distinguished Service Award” during his commencement ceremony.
Following graduation, Elbert began his legal career working at a premier Houston full-service law firm. Back in Austin, Elbert enjoys competing in sand volleyball, biking, and spending time outdoors.
